An endoscopy is a procedure where organs inside the body are looked at using an instrument called an endoscope. An endoscope is a long, thin, flexible tube that has a light and camera at one end. Images of the inside of the body are visible on a screen. Endoscopy is especially useful for diagnosing gastro-intestinal conditions such as oesophagitis and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Endoscopy can be used to visualise the airways including the nose, larynx and lungs and can aid diagnosis of BOAS disease. Endoscopy can also be used to diagnose and remove foreign bodies!
